Job description: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) leads the financial activities of the corporation, creating short- and long-term strategies for maximizing capital and minimizing financial risk. This role individual will assume leadership responsibility and ultimate oversight for the cash flow of each division to include general and corporate accounting, budgeting, and accurate reporting. The CFO will provide focus, direction, and consistency of policies and processes for both the Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis departments. This individual works alongside the Chief Executive Officers, Chief Operating Officer, and other executive leadership to make financial recommendations and decisions that yield positive outcomes.
- Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports
- Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets
- Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods
- Analyzes operations to identify areas in need of reorganization, downsizing, or elimination
- Works with the President and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
- Studies long-range economic trends and projects their impact on future growth in sales and market share
- Identifies opportunities for expansion into new product areas
- Oversees investment of funds and works with investment bankers to raise additional capital required for expansion
- Lead the financial strategy to aggressively oversee existing entities, assess financial risks, maximize efficiencies and margins, and seek opportunities for expansion, while meeting company goals
- Develop finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives
- Exercise sound judgement and makes decisions that significantly optimize the financial position of the present and future financial and budgetary projections
- Review planning process and suggests improvements to current methods
- Develop organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulating capital to fund expansion
- Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances
- Maximize return on invested funds by identifying investment opportunities and maintaining relationships with the investment community
- Accomplish finance and organization mission by completing related results as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field – Master’s or CPA preferred
- 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance with increased responsibilities over time
- 5+ years of leading and managing large teams
- Merger & acquisition experience is a plus
- SEC reporting experience is a plus
- Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial structures, revenue, and cash resources within the construction and real estate industry
- Strategic and visionary thinker, keen judgement, conceptual analysis and planning skills
- Skilled in building relationships, developing individuals and working as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sound business and fiscal knowledge
- Strong customer focus
- High integrity as evidenced by valuing all people and groups
