With over $1.5 billion in annual sales and a commitment to its workforce, Kokosing is the winning team.Job Description:The Associate General Counsel/Government Contracting and Compliance will be a key member of the Company’s Legal and Compliance Departments, who will serve as the Company’s in-house expert and resource on government contracting and play a key role in furthering the Company’s commitment to government contract compliance. This position will team with the Company’s General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and other members of those Departments, and will interface regularly with executive management, including with the Chief Executive Officers.

  • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates a wide range of government contract-related agreements (federal, federally-funded, state, and local), including prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, and other related documents. Collaborates with operations leaders to identify and mitigate risk related to such contracting.
  • Advises Company team members, including management and senior executives, on compliance issues related to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Office of Federal Contract Compliance requirements, and other applicable government laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Assists in developing and implementing effective compliance programs, including training, associated with government contracts.
  • Participates in ongoing risk assessments and due diligence processes to identify potential areas of government contract risk and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Assists as needed with investigations into reported government contract compliance concerns or alleged violations, ensuring thorough and fair resolution.
  • To a lesser extent, provides guidance and support in resolving disputes and claims arising from government contracts, including requests for equitable adjustment.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic credentials, including a J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 6-7 years of experience practicing law, with at least 5 years’ experience in government contract law.
  • Strong proficiency with the FAR, DFARS, Office of Federal Contract Compliance requirements, and related government contract laws and regulations, including federal construction contract compliance.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Active license to practice law, and in good standing, in one or more jurisdictions in the United States.
  • Willingness to relocate to the Central Ohio area.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time.
