To protect your workforce, we are at your fingertips: internationalsos.comJob DescriptionThis position is contingent upon award of contract.The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for providing medical oversight, direction, and leadership to the medical staff regarding all areas of healthcare for the CAS Role 2 medical program.Qualifications

  • Current and unrestricted license from any US State, District of Columbia, or US Territory to provide healthcare within the scope of practice.
  • Graduated from an approved medical school and completed a residency or fellowship as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Osteopathy (D.O.) from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant’s graduation.
  • Board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Certification by the American College of Surgeons – Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is preferred.
  • DEA license.
  • Common Access Card (CAC) or ability to obtain one.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • This position is accompanied. No pets.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • US DOS clearance required.
  • Must be able to relocate to Qatar.
  • A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Qatar.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality development and clinical governance agendas, including maintaining the Code of Conduct of medical practice, medical record-keeping, infection control standards, emergency response preparedness, and medical staff and patient safety at the facility.
  • Serve as the chair of the Medical Executive Committee (MEC), ensuring monthly meetings are conducted and minutes are documented and uploaded to SharePoint.
  • Oversee other hospital committees (e.g., Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Credential and Privileging, Peer Review, Infection Control), ensuring quarterly reports are submitted to the MEC.
  • Ensure routine peer reviews of medical charts are performed monthly and results are uploaded to SharePoint.
  • Maintain current Focus Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).
  • Provide direction on clinical case management, including patient movements and referrals off-island, in collaboration with insurance companies and medevac providers.
  • Work closely with other leaders supporting the CAS Role 2 project to ensure business continuity from a medical aspect.
  • Promote International SOS Standard Operating Procedures and Protocols.
  • Supervise all healthcare providers, including physicians, surgeons, mid-level providers, and dentists.
  • Provide strategic direction for medical staff and physician services programs to meet short- and long-term goals.
  • Serve as the clinical leader for the organization, providing support and education for other clinical leaders.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and accountability for the operational effectiveness of the physician services program.
  • Report on metrics to measure the impact of physician services.
  • Participate in the development of administrative policies and approve medical practice procedures, policies, guidelines, and SOPs.
  • Provide advice on the suitability of existing medical equipment and make recommendations on future equipment needs.
  • Assist in planning for the development of new medical services.
  • Ensure periodic review of practice management functions and review patient satisfaction surveys and complaints.
  • Consultation and Training:
  • Provide medical consultation as required.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of training and educational programs.
  • Collaboration and Compliance:
  • Participate in site meetings with the Prime Contractor and/or onsite government representatives as requested by the Project Manager.
  • Participate in all government audits under the SOW as requested by the Project Manager.
  • Report to the International SOS TMS Chief Medical Officer to assure quality and compliance.
  • Serve as the Medical Director for the EMS service on CAS, coordinating with the EMS Lead for skill validation and protocols, and involving in critical incident reviews as required.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare leadership role and clinical experience within the past five (5) years, preferably in a remote site.
  • Demonstrated experience in executive-level interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Experience on a military site or working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
