Job description: About the PositionThis position is in the Office of the Chief Climate Officer Development Finance Corporation (DFC). The DFC is the U.S. Government’s development finance institution and
works to mobilize and facilitate the participation of American private capital and skills in the economic and social development of emerging market economies. The Chief Climate Officer (CCO) serves as a key member of DFC’s senior management team and OCCO works closely with DFC’s business lines, Office of the General Counsel, and Office of Development Policy to drive investments that help create sustainable and inclusive global prosperity and stability.The Consultant will provide a wide range of analytical and document production services to the CCO and OCCO staff on key areas of operation, including extensive market
research of emerging sectors in support of DFC’s Climate strategy, preparation of PowerPoint decks describing DFC and OCCO’s work to external audiences, drafting of memos for Technical Assistance Projects, and market mapping exercises in support of the Upstream team. In addition, the Consultant will be expected to be a technically competent utility player who can support on a range of other OCCO workstreams.This position will include providing direct research, technical, and administrative support to special projects and partnerships that are run through the OCCO. This involves collaboration with staff within OCCO as well as in other business lines.Responsibilities
- Support the effective delivery of DFC’s climate strategy through detailed market research on specific sectors, including research on which emerging
sectors have bankable projects or investible companies, which geographies are best suited for DFC investment, and identification of relevant market trends. * Produce PowerPoint decks and talking points in support of the CCO in order to enable effective communication with external parties, including potential clients,panels, and conference attendees. * Support in the gathering and presentation in memo format of relevant information for the implementation of DFC Technical Assistance financing deployed bythe OCCO. * Interface with potential DFC clients to understand details of uses of technical assistance funding, timelines, legal requirements, and other such items.
- Provide support for the OCCO’s engagement in meetings and conferences domestically and overseas.
- Perform ad hoc research requests.
- Develop communications products that highlight DFC efforts (e.g., blogs, articles, talking points, press releases, market landscape analyses designed to inform Agency leadership, PowerPoint decks, briefing memos).
Qualifications
- Have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 2 years of experience in a related finance or consulting field, including impact investing, development or emerging market finance, investment or business advisory services, or management consulting.
- Data analysis including strong PowerPoint skills, research ability, writing skills, and Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A third year of experience in a related finance or consulting field.
- Financial modelling skills.
- Knowledge and skill in delivering high quality work product with little supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective and cooperative working relationship with representatives internally and externally.
- Knowledge of planning, prioritizing, and skill in gathering data and preparing reports for formal review and analysis.
