Their flagship initiative, Acción Andina, is dedicated to protecting and restoring critical native forest ecosystems in the Andes. In 2023, this initiative was honored with the EarthShot Prize for Restoring the Earth, recognizing the scale, quality, and effectiveness of their work in the Andes. GFG is aiming to not only expand Acción Andina, now a globally recognized initiative in South America, but also to replicate their proven model in other regions worldwide.POSITION OVERVIEW:
Working with the CEO, the new Director of Development will lead the development division and GFG team in increasing revenue. This individual should have a passion for nature and conservation, extensive networks, and the values necessary to sustainably grow the organization’s budget in a way that aligns with its mission. The Director of Development will strategize with and support the CEO’s fundraising activities, further develop the fundraising team, and work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure funding revenue is effectively translated into programs.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Significantly increase GFG’s annual and long-term funding to meet current and expanding programmatic and operational goals.
  • Develop and implement GFG’s fundraising scaling plan, including strategy, support systems, and efforts to expand major donors, foundations, corporate philanthropy, and the individual donor base.
  • Lead the development program by identifying major donors capable of making significant contributions of five figures or more.
  • Create and execute a robust development strategy.
  • Develop and lead a highly efficient and impactful GFG Development team.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for GFG’s Development division.
  • Stay informed of programmatic activities to converse knowledgeably with donors about the diverse areas of the GFG’s work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Senior-level leader with 7-10 years of experience in nonprofit development, demonstrating a proven track record in leading successful fundraising programs and teams.
  • Passionate about the organization’s mission of conserving and restoring native forests, with a deep understanding of environmental issues.
  • Proven track record of cultivating and securing six and seven-figure gifts.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a compelling presentation style.
  • Innovative and driven: adept at identifying challenges and overcoming obstacles to achieve success.
  • Proficient with emerging technologies and adept at engaging diverse audiences, international organizations, and donors.
  • Strong collaborator with experience managing remote teams effectively.
  • Proactive, creative, and adaptable, with the ability to take on new tasks and recognize opportunities in a dynamic environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus though not mandatory.
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet with high-level donors and visit international project sites to demonstrate impact.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This full-time, remote position offers a compelling opportunity to make a meaningful impact in conservation.
