Job description: OverviewJob SummaryThe Senior Project Officer – International Innovation will support the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Office of International Innovation and Partnerships by creating and managing partnerships with foreign entities around innovation, managing the Global Innovation Index, developing innovative international economic initiatives, assisting with preparation for international conferences and meetings, preparing memos and slide decks, and providing strategic support for department leadership. This role will also contribute to research projects, the creation of new initiatives and outreach offerings, serve as a critical thinker on the Authority’s international efforts, and provide analytic support NJEDA’s international engagement efforts.$76,184 – $95,230Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a managers approval. This program does not supersede the “New Jersey First Act”, which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.ResponsibilitiesCore Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and manage information pertaining to international economic relationships with New Jersey including the preparation of materials and briefings for diplomatic engagements.
  • Works with the Director of International Innovation and Partnerships to facilitate relationships across international governmental agencies and EDA departments in order to support international relations and initiatives managed by the department.
  • Collects, tracks, and reports on foreign direct investment as related to New Jersey’s business ecosystem, specifically within the strategic sectors of advanced manufacturing, non-retail food and beverage, offshore wind, clean energy, film and digital media, logistics, technology, financial services, and life sciences.
  • Develops, pilots, and scales initiatives and programs that support and strengthen New Jersey’s relationships across the globe; these efforts may include contributing to the design and execution of external engagement and business development-focused strategies and programs, conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses, impact metrics, etc.
  • Works cross-functionally to develop relationships within all EDA departments to support efforts conducted by the International Innovation department. This includes but is not limited to working closely with the Authority’s Communication, Events, and Marketing teams, and several departments within the Economic Transformation division.
  • Prepares reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders; analyzes data and compiles results to share a wide variety of audiences – officials, community engagement stakeholders, executive committee, and other staff.
  • Support varying projects and initiatives designed to advance the goals of the Office of International Innovation and Partnerships.
  • Communicates insights to key internal and external stakeholders through presentations and written reports.
  • Utilizes data to develop insights and recommendations for business decisions.
  • Represents the EDA externally, as required, particularly on International Innovation initiatives related to the EDA’s and the state’s strategic economic goals and plan.
  • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, NJEDA staff and external customers.
  • Perform duties to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.
  • Must complete annual and semiannual self-assessment as required.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

  • NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Foreign language skills are preferred but not required.

Preferred QualificationsEducation and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in relevant field and/or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of experience

Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experiencePhysical Demands
